How Wedding Transportation Usually Works

Most couples book a car for a block of time instead of separate one-way rides. A typical wedding day looks something like this:

  1. Pick up the couple or wedding party where everyone is getting ready.

  2. Drive to the ceremony and wait while it happens.

  3. Make a stop or two for photos. Places like the Palace of Fine Arts, Crissy Field and the Golden Gate overlooks are popular in San Francisco.

  4. Take everyone to the reception.

  5. Come back at the end of the night for the send-off and drive the couple to their hotel or home.

Tips for Planning Your Wedding Transportation

  • Count heads for each part of the day. The getting-ready group, the ceremony group and the after-party group are rarely the same people. Plan vehicles around the biggest group at each step.

  • Leave a buffer between stops. Bay Area traffic and bridge backups are real, especially on Saturday afternoons. 15 to 20 extra minutes between locations keeps the day on track.
